Alstroemeria Colorita Louise

Alstroemeria is a large group of stunning flowering plants that are short in growth but will brighten up your garden in summer and autumn. Their dense mounding growth habit makes them suitable for garden containers. Colorita Louise is a gorgeous flowering variety. In late summer, they produce masses of large pink flowers with lime-green centres and beautiful dark spots on petals.

These South American natives are also known as the Peruvian Lily. They produce funnel-shaped pink flowers on branches that are densely covered with green leaves. Colorita Louise grows up to a height of 2-3 feet at maturity. Their flowering period lasts from late summer through autumn until the first frost. These perennials are little hardy and might need protection against cold in winter.

Colorita Louise prefers morning sun and shade in the noon. Avoid direct sunlight especially in hot summer conditions. Plant it in a well-drained soil and water moderately to keep the soil moist. Louise spreads using a tuberous rooting system. Use a layer of mulch to keep the roots cool and strictly avoid clogging of water.

In spring months, a generous fertilizer feed will enhance the health of the plant. Pull the stems with faded flowers to encourage new blooms. Pulling the stems is healthier even though you can use shears for cutting.
