Calathea Leopardina is a popular tropical houseplant, commonly known for their foliage which consists of strong stems of upright oval leaves that are often brightly coloured with darker “animal print” variegated patterns. As these plants come from tropical origins, they prefer temperatures of 15C or above in a well lit location, but they are not very tolerant of direct sunlight as it can damage the leaves. These plants require regular watering during spring and summer but this can be cut back in winter, allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out before watering. These plants thrive in humid conditions so they would be best placed in a steamy room like a bath/shower room, or this can be simulated by misting the leaves occassionally.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves. Collections or ‘mixed’ listings for plants will be selected dependant on availability and carefully hand-picked to ensure their quality.
