Camellia are tough evergreen shrubs known for their beautiful winter flowers. This Camellia Tricolour will bloom three different colours of large rose-like flowers from late winter to early spring. Your garden will proudly display large flowers in red, pink and white colours at the same time. This upright flowering shrub is a good choice for wall side borders in courtyard gardens.
Camellia Tricolour is actually a mix of three varieties of Camellia planted in the same pot. The three plants thrive together and produce a mind-blowing mix of flowers in Jan – March. Brilliant flowers will brighten your garden in a season when all the other plants are asleep. It produces glossy green leaves that provide a beautiful backdrop for the flowers.
These exquisite blooms need to be protected from early morning frost. Plant your Camellia in a sheltered site away from cold winds. The shrub will manage to withstand overnight cold temperatures. It will thrive in a humus rich soil that is acidic and well-drained, enjoying light shade filtered through other trees. Once established, this shrub will demand only occasional maintenance and mild watering.
The roots of Camelia will not tolerate wet soil. Add a layer of organic mulch made of composted bark mixture for retaining moisture. Camellia is sometimes called the โRose of Winterโ, how interesting it is to have them in three colours!
It demands little pruning only to trim damaged stems and to remove faded flowers right after blooming season. Camellia is suitable as flower borders, on a patio or in large containers grown as a spectacular single specimen
