The Cotoneaster x watereri is a semi-evergreen tree with slender dark green leaves that can grow up to 10cm long. The tree also accommodates large white flowers in the Summer which grow in flat-topped clusters these are followed by orange-red fruits.
The Cotoneaster x watereri has an open habit and in Autumn its arching branches are home to red berries. Bird are often attracted to this tree due to berries, as well as attracting butterflies and bees in the Summer months as a result of the large floral display of white flowers.
Semi-evergreen means that the leaves will fall only in the harshest of winters, so you can expect the tree to retain most of its green leaves throughout the year.
This small ornamental tree is fully hardy and will thrive in full sun or partial shade. It prefers well drained, moderately fertile soil. The tree does require heavy or regular pruning but can be pruned to remove wayward branches or reduce the size of the plant if needed.
