SEASONAL AVAILABILITY – Bare Root plants are supplied from late November until Spring the following year.
CHARACTERISTICS – Ligustrum ovalifolium is known for it’s evergreen/semi evergreen foliage in Spring/Summer and will only drop it’s leaves with a hard winter.
HEIGHT AND SPREAD – Supplied in it’s evergreen state, Green Privet grows at 1-2ft per year and can reach up to 4m+ at full maturity, but can be pruned to a relatively low form of 1m if required.
PLANTING TIPS – Bare-Root hedging is typically planted in a double staggered row of 5 plants per metre. Evergreen plants are generally planted to less density than deciduous plants, such is the nature of their dense foliage.

Ligustrum ovalifolium is commonly known as ‘Green Privet’ and is an extremely popular hedge that displays vibrant bright green foliage in spring/summer along with its white flowers. After the white flowers come its small, spherical, shiny black fruits that are perfect for wildlife. Ligustrum will often keep it’s leaves all year round as long as the winter is not to hard, giving you the benefits of a colourful dense screen hedge throughout the year. Green Privet is well suited to urban and suburban areas as it is pollution tolerant.

Green Privet prefers well-drained chalky clay soil, however will do fine in any type of soil as long as you avoid very wet conditions. Ligustrum grows at around 1-2 feet per year but can be pruned to a manageable size.
