Characteristics: A bushy, upright, deciduous shrub which produces firm, mostly oval shaped edible berries. A very productive variety with branches that will remain strong and upright, even when laden with their gorgeous and sweet blue berries.
Growth and Spread: Ultimate height of 2m and ultimate spread of 1.5m.
Period of Interest: Flowers in Spring and the berries will be ready for harvesting mid-June to mid-July.
Water and Maintenance: This plant prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water in well until established and then as required when the soil is dry to touch. The soil should never become waterlogged.

Lonicera caerulea edulis is a hardy fruit plant which has gained popularity for their sweet edible berries. Boreal Blizzard is a variety that is valued for its productivity and fruit size. It boasts one of the largest, heaviest berries of any honeyberry cultivar and will make a great addition to the fruit plant corner in your garden. Their sweet berries are best enjoyed fresh, frozen or juiced.

Plant in moist, well-drained sandy, loamy or clay soil. As with most fruit and berry plants, the Honeyberry plant does also need a good exposure to sunlight, it does not fruit so well in the shade. Ensure that the soil remains moist but not overly wet, particularly after planting.
