Passiflora Beervelde, commonly known as Passion Flower, is a unique looking plant with dark green leaves that surround a display of colourful flowers. The largely purple flowering comes in Summer, usually between July and September. The yellow-green, propeller-shaped centre is very distinct and easily compliments the array of colours around it. This semi-evergreen plant can also produce orange-yellow fruit between September and October, giving it further interest late in the year. Its fruits are edible when ripe, but not particularly palatable.
Also known as Lavender Lady, this climber is an ideal choice for covering up any plain or unsightly walls in and around your garden. It can also be used as a great form of groundcover, as well as creating a fantastic display in borders, pots and containers. Place it in a sunny or partially shaded area of the garden, in a moist, well-drained soil. You will only need to water it when the soil is dry to touch.
